two quilt-related accomplishments
Accomplishment #1: I started to clean out the linen closet.
That may not be a thrilling job, but it yielded an extraordinary discovery. A drop-dead gorgeous, mint-condition, hand-pieced 19th c quilt top. Where did it come from? I have no memory of having bought it (but I am sure I did). The browns, reds, and greens, are as bright as they day they were born because they were stored away from light.

Just look at these beautiful fabrics! The gray mourning print -- the red one. Oh, my!

If you look closely, you will see that some of the fabrics had been seamed from scraps. I think that today we hesitate to add to a piece of fabric that is slightly too small, but why???? It doesn't detract from the quilt and is hardly noticeable.

The second accomplishment is that I started to quilt one of the pieces I had made when I was in Paducah a couple of weeks ago.
Today's goal is to finish it. We'll see what happens.
I am almost finished packing, so I can take a little time to sew. My next post might be from Pont-L'Abbé on Sunday night. Taking the red eye to London and another flight to get where I am going. If I am still conscious, I will see you anon.
